Councillor Krista Loughton is an independent candidate, local business owner, and award-winning filmmaker who understands Victoria’s complex challenges.
Her priorities are to focus on downtown, make Victoria more affordable, and regionalize services for the homeless—Victoria cannot continue to carry the load alone.
Councillor Loughton is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and business owner who has spent her career raising issues to all levels of government. Her first feature documentary, Us and Them, made an impact by showing how early childhood trauma correlates to poverty, homelessness, and addiction. The film has screened thousands of times throughout North America, including on Parliament Hill and at the British Columbia legislature.
Krista understands the complex challenges facing our city from a practical point of view. She’s a strong collaborator, has excellent research skills, and is known for her dogged work ethic. She is also committed to maintaining a well-managed city that takes care of the needs of all residents and local businesses, and will continue to bring practical solutions and a positive approach to City Hall.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Specialist) degree in Geography, making the Dean’s Honour list twice, and lives in Hillside Quadra with her adorable mini aussie, Jedha.
Councillor Loughton believes in collaboration, common sense, and a people-centered approach to making decisions on behalf of Victorians. She will bring that same pragmatism and focus to the Capital Regional District (CRD) Board.
